Frequently Asked Questions

NEW FAMILIES

  • Can I start anytime?

Yes! Our programs run year round, so your child can join classes at any point during a session as long as space is available. This allows families the flexibility to start when it works best for their schedule.

  • Is there a registration fee?

Yes, we do have an Annual Registration Fee. This fee is valid for a full year from your initial enrollment and also gives you access to exclusive member discounts and benefits.

  • How are your sessions structured?

We run classes in 8-week sessions. We have found that this format gives students enough time to safely learn new skills, build confidence, and focus on proper technique before being evaluated for advancement. It also allows coaches to better track progress and provide individualized instruction throughout the session.

  • How are students placed into classes?

While age is one factor we consider when placing students, most of our classes are grouped primarily by skill level. This allows each athlete to learn alongside students with similar abilities, ensuring that skills are taught at an appropriate pace and progression for everyone in the class.

Skill-based placement helps students build a strong foundation, develop proper technique, and progress safely without feeling held back or overwhelmed. Our coaches continually evaluate each athlete's progress and will recommend advancement when they have mastered the skills required for the next level.

If you are unsure which class is the best fit for your child, our staff is happy to help determine the appropriate placement.

  • Do you offer a trial class?

Yes! We offer one FREE trial class so your child can experience our program before committing to enrollment. It’s a great way to meet our coaches, explore the gym, and ensure the class is the right fit.

  • What should my child wear?

Students should wear comfortable, athletic clothing that allows them to move freely and safely. We recommend fitted clothing rather than loose or baggy items, as coaches need to be able to spot students safely and observe proper body positioning during skills. Leotards are a great choice for girls, while boys may wear athletic shorts and a t-shirt. Long hair should be securely pulled back, and all jewelry, smart watches, and dangling earrings must be removed before class to help prevent injuries and equipment-related accidents.

EXISTING FAMILIES

  • What if my child misses a class?

We offer unlimited make-up classes for missed classes! Make-up classes must be scheduled in advance and completed within the same 8-week session in which the class was missed. Make-up classes are based on availability and can only be scheduled in classes with open spots.

  • What happens when there is bad weather?

We will notify all affected students

  • How do I know when my child is ready to move up to the next level?

At the end of each session, we complete in-class skill evaluations for all students. Gymnasts who have mastered the required skills for their current level will receive a completion certificate and are ready to advance to the next class level. Students who are still developing certain skills will receive a report card showing which skills have been mastered and which skills still need additional work.

Every child learns at their own pace, but in general, students spend about 1–2 sessions in each Blue Level class, 2–3 sessions in each Green Level class, and 3–4 sessions in each Purple Level class. As students progress, the skills become more advanced and challenging, requiring additional time to develop the strength, technique, and consistency needed to perform them safely and correctly.

  • What is your refund policy?

GT Gymnastics does not offer refunds for cancelled enrollments (whether cancelled by the family or by GT). Instead, a credit for any unused tuition will be applied to your Customer Portal account. This credit can be used on future enrollments, camps, parties, open gyms, etc. Credits are non-transferrable.

  • What if my child is interested in team?

Students interested in our team program have a few options to learn more and be evaluated for placement. Families are welcome to stop by the front desk to inquire about our team program and speak with one of our team coaches.

Students may also attend one of our Future Stars Clinics, which are held once per session. During these clinics, athletes work directly with our team staff on skills, drills, strength, and technique that are important within our team program. Following the clinic, our coaches provide an evaluation to determine if your child is ready for team and which program or team level may be the best fit.
